Pretend Play T-shirts for kids

Isn’t it fun to have your kid come up to you and say, “Mom, I’m the dentist. And you’re my patient. Open wiiide!”

Pretend play is a wonderful experience for us parents because we get a sneak peek into the workings of our little one’s minds. We find out what interests them, and we are surprised at just how much they know, or just how articulate they are in expressing their pretend situations.

But it’s even more fun when we stop to think about just how great pretend play is for our kids.

Pretend play promotes abstract thinking. Simple things that our kids do everyday – pick up the remote control and speak into it as though it is a mobile phone, for example – are exercises in symbolism, which is actually a pretty complex thinking skill.

Pretend play promotes creative thinking because the child has total control over creating every aspect of the scenario, and encourages problem solving skills such as considering how best to arrange the throw pillows to build a fortress.

Your child also builds his or her vocabulary when playing pretend, especially when you provide them with theme-specific words (you’ll be amazed at how easily your toddlers will absorb words pertaining to a topic they like). Plus the story-telling component of pretend play is an important building block in the development of literacy.

When playing together with others the benefits are even greater. Your child learns social skills such as cooperation, taking turns, following ‘rules’ and compromise. And by pretending to be someone else they get a chance to see things from another person’s perspective, later on leading to the development of empathy.

Give your child lots of opportunity to play pretend. Encourage his imagination games by providing props, costumes or environments that they can manipulate to be a part of his pretend world. Participate but let him take the lead.

Expect to be entertained, and often amazed.

Encourage your kids’ imaginative play with these play clothes. Each design features just enough to spark your child’s imagination, while leaving it up to them to paint their own story around it.

Available in 4 designs:

Yellow scales Tshirt – ROAR! There’s something moving behind those trees! Big as a dinosaur, scaly like a lizard, what kind of creature is it?

Blue Fin Tshirt – SPLASH! SWISH! I see a fin! Is it a shark? A dolphin? A merman?

Pink wings Racerback Tanktop – oh, you have the most delicate cotton-candy-colored wings! Are you a candy sprite bearing gifts? A fairy come to grant my wish? A butterfly collecting honey?

Pink wings Tee Shirt - same cotton candy pink shirt and wings! Love my puffed sleeves. I'm a Princess! No. I'm a fairy today!

Sizes are SMALL, MEDIUM and LARGE. Check out the sizing chart in the album for dimensions.
